Heating against an elastic support

Find the right-end displacement and signed axial stress in the bar shown. Use $E=180\,\mathrm{GPa}$ and $\alpha=16\times10^{-6}\,\mathrm{K}^{-1}$ . The spring is initially unloaded, the bar remains elastic, and the support walls are fixed.

A horizontal bar of length 900 mm and area 240 mm² is fixed at its left end. Its right end is attached to the left end of a compression spring of stiffness 18 kN/mm; the spring right end is fixed to a wall. The bar is heated uniformly by 65 K while the spring has no thermal expansion. Positive displacement is rightward.
